Percy Lewis Gwinn
Helena, OK. -- The funeral for Percy Lewis Gwinn, 87, was Friday at Helena First Christian Church. Bill Coburn officiated. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery near Helena, arranged by Lanman Funeral Home. He died May 26, 1999, at Great Plains Care Center in Helena.
He was born Sept. 29, 1911, in Helena to Lewis and Mary Alice Rupert Gwinn. He graduated from Helena High School and Enid Business College. On April 6, 1935, he married Bessie Mitchell.
He farmed, raised cattle and was a custom wheat cutter. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by a son, Roger of Helena; a daughter, Bonnie Streich of Goltry; two brothers, Claude of Stillwater and Roy of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.

Helena – Bessie Fern Gwinn, 67, died Saturday at a Phoenix, Arizona, hospital. The funeral will be 2 PM Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Helena. The Reverend Litton Logan will officiate. Burial will be at Good Hope Cemetery under direction of Kenny Lanman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gwinn was born January 29, 1918, in Ringwood to Sherman and Alva Mitchell. She attended Missionary grade school, Cleo high school and graduated from Ringwood high school. She then attended Beetches Beauty School in Enid and was a beauty operator for several years. In 1935, she married Percy Gwinn in Wellington, Kansas.

Mrs. Gwinn was a member of Helena Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Percy; a daughter, Bonnie Streich, Goltry; a son, Roger, Helena; two sisters, Vermelle Parkhurst, Wichita, Kansas, and Vera Harrell, Silverdale, Washington; a brother, Charlie Mitchell, Enid; four grandchildren; and two great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and three brothers.

Memorials in her name may be made to the First Christian Church in Helena.
