Funeral services for Donald L. Gibson, 50, who died of an apparent heart attack while at Lake Chapala, Mexico will be at 10.a.m. Friday in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Rev. H. Barnett Jackson will officiate and burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery at Helena under the direction of the Henninger Allen Funeral Home of Enid.
Gibson was born at Helena and moved to Enid at an early age, later moving back to Helena where he graduated from high school. He was a member of the baseball team.
Gibson served in the U.S. army during World War 11. He was a member of the American Legion Post and the VFW. Gibson was employed by Central Machine and Tool Company, Wabco and a local men's clothing store.
He was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church.
Gibson and Mrs. Helen Headlee were married in the Episcopal Church April 2, 1971 and she survives him. Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ann Headlee Clocca, Sausalito, Calif.: three step-grandchildren: an aunt, Mrs. H.S. (Katie) Luscombe, 614 S. Arthur; two uncles, Kenneth Lowry of Helena and Charles Lowry of Lafayeette, La. His parents and a brother predeceased him.
The family has designated St. Matthew’s Church as a suitable memorial. Henninger-Allen and the church will serve as custodial of contributions.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. Friday until service time.
