Good Hope Cemetery


Funeral service for Robert O. “Bob” Doll will be Friday, January 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Cherokee United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Caulkin officiating. Burial will be at Good Hope Cemetery near Helena with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Viewing will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Robert O. “Bob” Doll was born August 9, 1920 southeast of Helena to Richard and Mae Hittle Doll and passed from this life January 7, 2011. They lived there for 32 years before moving to Helena. Robert attended Highland School 101 and graduated from Helena High School in 1939. After graduation he entered the armed services. He served in the European Theatre of Operation in World War II for over three years. Upon his return he helped farm until 1953, at which time he went to work for Fishback Garage in Helena. He later purchased and operated the Royal Theater in Helena. In 1959 he went to work for Hackney Iron and Steel at Enid, retiring as a foreman in 1985. He retired from the Helena Fire Department after 20 years o f service.

In 1976 he married Doris Mahlo in Cherokee, and they made their home in Cherokee. He was an avid bowler for 37 years. He bowled at Cherokee and was past secretary of the Cherokee Bowling Association. He was a member of the VFW of Enid and past member of the American Legion and Oddfellows Lodge of Ringwood and Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his father; one infant sister and one step- son.

Bob was survived by his wife, Doris; two step children, Kathleen Salcido and Robert (Ted) Owen and wife, Becky; nine step grandchildren, Daniel X. Owen, Heather Owen, Cristina Trejo, Julian Trejo, Nicholas Owen, Katherine (Katie) Castor, Chelsea Castor, Marissa Owen and Destiny Owen; nine step great grandchildren and several cousins.

Memorials may be given to the Cherokee United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
