Helena, OK. -- The funeral for Sterling "Buck" Boston, 86, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Helena. Bob Paine and Charles Sappington will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc.
He was born April 18, 1916, in Gore, OK. to Beverly B. and Oler Haliburton Boston and died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid, OK.
On Dec. 31, 1953, he married Erma Grace Murray at Helena. He worked for the state of Oklahoma, first as a guard, then as a shift supervisor, transportation supervisor and later in horticulture. He moved from McAlester, OK. to Helena, living in the area for 49 years. He was a Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Erma, of Helena, OK.; one daughter, Debra Lee Morton; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church or to Masonic Scholarship Fund of Corinthian Lodge No. 307 of Cherokee, OK.

Service for Erma will be Friday, October 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Helena First Christian Church. Viewing will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Erma Boston entered heaven on October 11, 2021. Her health had been gradually failing since she fell and broke her hip in March. She was born on February 22, 1933 to Arthur and Mildred Murray. She was one of five children. She started school at Great Plains Country School and graduated from Helena High School. She attended business school in Enid after graduation. She began working at the Helena Coop and later transferred to work at the Blackwell Coop. She returned to Helena and began working as a bookkeeper at Dague’s Hardware. She met her husband, Sterling “Buck” Boston, at the hardware store. Buck had brought trustees from OSP to renovate the property for the Helena Boys School. They were married on December 31, 1953. On November 13, 1954, a daughter was delivered to them, Debra Lee Boston. Erma and Buck lived in McAlester, Oklahoma and Bakersfield, California, but eventually established their home in Helena.
Around 1961 Erma and her mother, Mildred Murray, purchased the Percolator Café in Helena. Erma and her Mom eventually sold the café around 1971. Erma was later employed at the Helena Boys School as a supervisor in the kitchen. When the Boys School closed, she continued to work as an employee at James Crabtree Correctional Center. She retired from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
Erma had many hobbies throughout the years that included sewing, painting, knitting, making quilts, and working with ceramics. She took pleasure in making pounds and pounds of candy at Christmas time. She was an excellent cook. In her later years her biggest pleasure was taking her grandchildren and great grandchildren shopping.
Erma is preceded in death by her husband, Buck; granddaughter, Natasha Grace Morton; her sister, Eva Mae Hagen; brothers-in-law, Oliver Hagen, Bob Meyer, and Jerry Horn.
Erma is survived by her daughter, Debbie Morton; grandson, Lonnie Morton II; great grandchildren, Haylee Lofton and Lonnie Morton III; sisters, Anna Belle Horn, Cathy Meyer; brother, Harold Murray and wife, Joan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Night to Shine or Greenbrier General Store through the funeral home.
