RINGWOOD – Funeral service for Lewis “Bus” Adkisson, 86, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Ringwood, with Pastor Steve Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery, south of Helena, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, with family present from 5-7. Memories may be shared at www.lanmanmemorials.com.

Bus was born April 14, 1927, in rural Ringwood to Andrew Adkisson and Lucy M. Frickle Adkisson, and passed from this life Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at his home.

After high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Army.

He married Norma Ruth Cronin on Nov. 27, 1949. He was a lifetime member of the Ringwood area.

Bus kept very busy as he farmed and was a Helena Boys Home night supervisor for 25 years. He served on the Helena Co-op Board for eight years.

Bus loved his family, especially his grandkids. He loved taking them four wheeling and teaching them about his love of the land and farming. He was a member of Ringwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Ruth of Ringwood; daughters, Connie Lou Adkisson Buffalohead and husband Kenneth Pat of Helena, and Freda Jo Adkisson of Enid; three grandchildren, Jennifer Sue Fishback and husband Rob, Shadlow Wayne Buffalohead and Kendal Lewis Buffalohead; six great-grandchildren, Miranda Ruth Fishback, Kolton Ray Fishback, Skylar Kaye Fishback, Shadlow W. Buffalohead II, Jeramiah Allen Buffalohead and Micah Trey Buffalohead; two great-great-grandchildren, Rayne Nycole Taylor and Jocelyn RaeLee Taylor; sisters, Reba Thompson of California and Dottie Clough and husband Harry of Yukon; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Those who preceded Bus in death include his parents; daughter, Sharon Ruth; and brother, Roy Adkisson.

Memorials may be given to the church through the funeral home.

HELENA, OK — Funeral service for Norma Adkisson will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Ringwood First Baptist Church, with Pastor Steve Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery, near Helena, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Memories may be shared at www.lanmanmemorials.com. Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, May 27, with family present from 6-8 p.m.

Norma Ruth Adkisson was born near Helena, Okla., on Nov. 3, 1931, the daughter of Jess and Ruby Clark Cronin.

She graduated from Helena High School and had lived in the Helena-Ringwood area all during her lifetime.

Norma and Lewis “Bus” Adkisson were married Nov. 27, 1949, in Ringwood.

She had worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a nurse aide for a number of years. She had also had been a cafeteria cook.

She belonged to the Helena Jr. Homemakers and was a member of First Baptist Church in Ringwood, where she helped with Bible School and made cookies to share with those who attended Bible School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bus; her parents, Jess and Ruby Clark Cronin; and a daughter, Sharon Ruth Adkisson.

Norma is survived by her children, Freda Jo Adkisson and Connie Lou Adkisson Buffalohead and husband Kenneth Pat; grandchildren, Jennifer Sue Fishback and husband Rob, Shadlow Wayne Buffalohead and Kendal Lewis Buffalohead and girlfriend, Tashina Williams; great-grandchildren, Miranda Ruth Fishback, Kolton Ray Fishback, Skylar Kay Fishback, Shadlow Wayne Buffalohead II, Jeramiah Allen Buffalohead and Micah Trey Buffalohead; great-great-grandchildren, Rayne Nycole Taylor, Jocelyn RaeLee Taylor and new baby to be, Kaydn Lewis Taylor; one brother, Roger Cronin and wife Lael; two sisters, Carole Shepard and Ruby Eileen Capps and husband Dennis; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to Ringwood First Baptist Church through the funeral home.
