If you have additional information about The Mennonite-German Springs Cemetery, please contact area coordinator.

The following used with permission, Cherokee Strip Volunteer League, "Alfalfa County Oklahoma Cemeteries": The Mennonite-German Springs Cemetery is located in Section 35 Township 29N Range 9W in Alfalfa County.

The German Springs Mennonite Church was the first Mennonite church to be established in the Cherokee Outlet. The sign at the cemetery has a date of 1894. The church struggled in the beginning, but later prospered because crops improved. The church burned in about 1926 and was never rebuilt. Eli C. and Barbara (Bechtel) Yoder donated two acres of land from the NE corner of their claim on November 30, 1920. The church was on the east acre and the cemetery on the west acre. Her father, J. W. Bechtel, was the first burial in the cemetery. A cemetery board was formed Memorial Day, 1978, and a maintenance trust fund established when they realized relatives might not always be around to take of the cemetery.
