The funeral for Thomas Harry Elliott, 82, of Cherokee, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of God, Dacoma. The Revs. Earle Metcalf and Connie Kinnard will officiate. Burial will be in Garrison Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Visitation will be 1- 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon-day at the funeral home and Tuesday at the church before the service.
He was born Jan. 7, 1925, in Dacoma to Charles Randal and Rosa Ana Hiatt Elliott and died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007.
He married Evajoy Smith Aug. 7, 1947, in Dacoma. He received his bachelor's degree at Northwestern State Teachers College and taught seventh and eighth grade in Cherokee. He moved to Greeley, Colo., where he continued his education, receiving a master's degree at the university in Greeley. He attended Columbia University. He was a retired elementary principal in Greeley. He was a member of Broadview Park Church in Greeley and attended First United Methodist Church in Cherokee and Church of God in Dacoma. He was a member of National Education Association.
Surviving are his wife Evajoy, of Cherokee; three children, Tomm Joe Elliott of Brazil, Kirk David Elliott of Cherokee and Joy Lynn "Jodi" Graham of Boise, Idaho; one brother, Alden Elliott of Helena; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Church of God, Dacoma or First United Methodist Church, Cherokee.

Evajoy Smith Elliott was born in Dacoma, Oklahoma, to Oliver Herbert Smith and Eva Henage Smith on December 4, 1925, and passed from this life on July 1, 2019. Oliver and his three brothers had made "the run" for Oklahoma homestead land and eventually settled their families on the Cherokee Strip where Evajoy grew up.
Evajoy married Thomas Harry Elliott on August 7, 1947, in Dacoma after both had attended Dacoma High School. Upon leaving DHS, Thomas joined the United States Marines where he served from July 1943 until February 1946. During this time, Evajoy attended Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, where she graduated with a degree in psychology in June 1947. Both returned to Dacoma and they married that August. Thomas began his studies at Northwestern State Teachers College while Evajoy taught in Capron School. After Thomas completed his university studies, three children were born to the union of Thomas and Evajoy: Tomm, Kirk and Joy Lynn. They moved to Greeley, Colorado, where Thomas completed his Master's Degree in Education, was hired by the Greeley Public Schools as an elementary principal, and they concentrated on raising their family.
Once the children were old enough, Evajoy returned to work as a social worker for the welfare department in Greeley. She served as coordinator of the Head Start Program for several years before concentrating her work on the cases and needs of the welfare children. Evajoy was a dedicated homemaker and a very active member of the church, where she served as church secretary, organist, and statewide secretary for many years. She was renowned as a devout Christian educator and an active member of the Women's Missionary Society. Gifted in music, she was always ready with something musically special for any of the church services. Thomas and Evajoy attended Broadview Park Church in Greeley for many years and the Dacoma Church of God before moving there as well as upon their return to the Dacoma area during retirement.
They both loved traveling, which they demonstrated by making sure their children visited all of the states in the United States (except Hawaii) while they were still at home. Thomas and Evajoy went on to visit every continent in the world except Antartica. Upon retirement, they returned "home," re-establishing themselves in Cherokee.
Evajoy is survived by her three children: Tomm Joe Elliott of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, Kirk David Elliott and wife Donna of Oklahoma City and Joy Lynn "Jody" Graham-Bolopue and husband Tim of Boise, Idaho; nine grandchildren, Sydnei Elliott, Adriano Elliott, Carlos Elliott, Julian Elliott, Caio Elliott, Jessica Elliott-Frisbee, Kelly Ortiz, Elliott Graham, Nicholas Graham; and eight great-grandchildren, Sofija Elliott, Noah Elliott, Avery Ortiz, Taylor Ortiz, Braydon Ortiz, Rylie Ortiz, Louie Elliott and Rita Elliott.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Nelson Smith, Fred Smith and Elton Smith; and two sisters, Irene Caldwell and Nina Ratzlaff.
Funeral service for Evajoy will be at Dacoma Church of God on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., with burial in Garrison Cemetery east and north of Dacoma. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee.
