Hazel J. Elliott, 91, Enid

Funeral services will be Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. in the Enid First Church of the Nazarene with the Dr. Robert Shepherd, Rev. Jack B. Lowe, and Rev. Matthew Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Garrison Cemetery, Dacoma, under the direction of Anderson - Burris Funeral Home . She was preceded in death by her parents, and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alden; two children, Marvellee and Ray Goodwin of Enid and Marvin Elliott of Mulhull; one brother, Melvin Jackson of North Hollywood, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Matthew Goodwin and his wife, Tammy of Topeka, Kan., Santana and Donovan Elliott, both of Mulhull; other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene in care of Anderson - Burris Funeral Home .

The funeral for Alden R. Elliott, 90, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Bruce Johnson and Matthew Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. in Garrison Cemetery, Dacoma.

He was born Aug. 11, 1916, on a farm near Dacoma to Charlie and Rosa Hiatt Elliott and died Saturday, April 7, 2007, in Oklahoma City.

He grew up in Dacoma and graduated from Dacoma High School. He attended South-western Oklahoma State University, Southern Naza-rene University, Central State University and Phillips University. He married Hazel Jackson Aug. 15, 1937, in Dacoma. He worked as a weigher-clerk for Dan Reiter Grain Elevator in Sentinel for five years and was employed by Modern Woodmen of America as an insurance agent for five years.

He was a teacher at Carrier Public Schools, where he was also principal. He served as superintendent of schools at Mutual, Fay, Fort Supply, Foss, Guy and Lahoma. He taught junior high math for Enid Public Schools, and was supervisor of adult education classes. He taught math at Oklahoma Bible Academy and Kremlin-Hillsdale schools.

He worked for United States Department of Commerce Census Bureau, and as a weigher and grain inspector for local elevators and Union Equity Co-op Exchange.

He held numerous offices in Oklahoma Education Association, and was past president of Garfield County Education Association and Skeltur Conference Athletic Association. He was a member of Enid First Church of the Nazarene, where he served as church treasurer for 30 years.

Surviving are one daughter, Marvellee Goodwin of Oklahoma City; one son, Marvin Elliott of Mulhall; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel in 2003; and eight brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Enid First Church of the Nazarene.
