Garrison Cemetery


Memorial service for LaVona Mae Budy will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Hopeton Wesleyan Church. The Rev. M.L. Hadsell, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Garrison Cemetery, Dacoma, Okla. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva. Condolences may be made at www.whartonfuner alchapel.com.

LaVona Mae, daughter of Maurice Everet and Reah Lucinda (Perfect) White, was born in Dacoma, Okla., on Dec. 20, 1921. She entered heaven’s gates on Monday, May 11, 2015, at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 21 days, to join her Lord and Saviour.

On Sept. 14, 1938, she married Gerald Arthur Budy. To this marriage, three girls were born, Phyllis Jeanene, Loween Kay and Sheri Lyn. They were blessed with 65 years together. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-laws, her daughter, Loween Maynard, and a son-in-law, Junior Hofen.

LaVona is survived by two daughters, Jeanene Hofen, and Sheri Bushman and husband Dennis; eight grandchildren, Janita Hofen, JayDon (Karibeth) Hofen, JoVona (Gregg) Matthiesen, Jeff (Sharon) Hofen, David (Tammy) Zahorsky, Jaime (Craig) Ricke, Jared (Rachel) Bushman, Jonathan (Jana) Bushman; 11 great-grandchildren, Jason Hofen, Sarah (Mikel) Chapman, Ryan (Joy) Matthiesen, Stephanie (Clint) Hummel, Caitlin and Makenzie Hofen, Avery, Aidan and Adelaide Bushman and Tatum and Trendon Ricke; one niece, Carolyn Rexroat; and one nephew, Terry (Jane) Budy.

A service celebrating her life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Hopeton Wesleyan Church. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today, May 13, at Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva. A private burial will be held before the memorial service.

She was a special, Godly woman, and will be greatly missed by many. We will mourn her passing, but celebrate her remarkable life and the heritage she leaves for her family.
