The service celebrating and honoring the life of Mary Lou Martin will be Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Driftwood Christian Church. Burial will follow at Driftwood Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Mary Lou was born in the house that she has lived in for the last sixty plus years. She was a vibrant person who loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved gardening and delivered her produce all over Alfalfa County and as far as Kiowa, Kansas. Mary Lou married Joe Martin on October 19, 1947 and out of this farm marriage three children were born: Rick, Mart, and Judy.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Blanche Forbes; brother, Leon Forbes; husband, Joe Martin; son, Mart Martin, and grandson, Bryan Shank.
Mary Lou is survived by son, Rick Martin and wife, Susan; daughter, Judy Martin; daughter-in-law, Fawnda Martin; grandsons, Patrick Martin and wife, Abby, Brock Martin and wife, Tambra, Derrick Martin and wife, Cassie, and Rick C. Martin; granddaughter, Susan Channel and husband, Mike; great grandchildren, Mason and Kyler Martin, Stetson and Keianna Martin, Brycelyn and Haylee Martin, Brooke Martin, Madelyn Jo and Easton Shank, Megan and Eli Channel.
Memorials may be given to Driftwood Cemetery through the funeral home.
