Graveside memorial service for Garrell Young, Sr., age 76, of Cherokee, will be 10:00 AM, Friday, June 3, 2016 at Cherokee Cemetery, with Doug Graham officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

Gene was born to Roy Leslie and Opal Lametta (Tullis) Young on May 29, 1940, in Cherokee, and passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Cherokee.

Gene was born and raised in the house his father built in Cherokee. He moved with his family to California in 1963, and returned to Oklahoma in the mid 1970’s. Gene built his mechanic shop in 1976, where he helped many friends and family members. On April 16, 1996 he met the love of his life Juanita Gail Luttrell and they have been together for over 20 years.

Gene is survived by his wife Juanita Luttrell of the home; children Patti Yarbrough of Broken Arrow, Garrell Young, Jr. of Bixby, Becky Lenshyn of Mackscreek, Missouri, Cindy Mick of Zanesville, Ohio, Tony Luttrell of Cherokee, and Shawn Luttrell of Enid; 27 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brother Robert (Bob) Young; and sister Nina Coldwater.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Young, granddaughter Caitlyn Young, and brother Clifton.
