Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


A memorial service for Rose Ilene Peterson White, 71, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Cherokee, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at the Pavilion at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery with Dr. Ron Hansen and the Rev. Ed Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee. Visitation at the funeral home, with the family present, will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.

She was born Feb. 3, 1935, in Cherokee to Ralph T. and Rose Petersen and died June 25, 2006, in Colorado Springs.

Ilene graduated from Cherokee High School in 1953 and continued her education at Oklahoma State University. She taught school in Woodland Park, Colo., for 12 years.

She and Fred White would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 21, 2006.

As a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, she honored family and life. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Colorado Springs.

Surviving are her husband, Fred; two sons, Thomas Montell and Jeffrey Scott; a daughter, Dianna Rose; a brother, Ralph Peterson Jr.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be given in her memory to Pikes Peak Hospice of Colorado Springs through Goodwin Funeral Home.
