Leo David WALKER

Cherokee Municipal Cemetery

Leo David Walker, son of Mr. & Mrs. David Henry Walker, was born July 30, 1911 at Cherokee OK and graduated from Cherokee High School. He was inducted into the service on June 7, 1943 at Cheyenne WY and received his training as a gunner at Farragut ID. S1/c Walker served 13 months in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of War participating in the battle of Samar. He was killed when the US Destroyer Johnston was sunk in the battle of Leyte on Oct. 25, 1944.
