ENID — Funeral for Bernice L. Thornberry, 88, Enid is 1 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial in Cherokee Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Cooksey officiating.

She was born Sept. 11, 1923, near Cherokee to Tom and Sarah Campbell Boston and died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, in Golden Oaks Nursing Center.

Surviving are daughter, Linda Faro of Canton, Texas; son, L.A. "Butch" Thornberry, Quinlan; brother, Bob Boston, Enid; three sisters, Maxine Sweatt and Doris Wofford, both of Enid, and Ruth Barnes, Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The funeral for E. L. "Slim" Thornberry, 82, will be at 2 PM Thursday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Walters officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery, directed by Fisher Funeral Home. He died December 19, 1994, at Bass Memorial Baptist Hospital in Enid.

He was born may 29, 1912, near Nash in Grant County to Leslie H. And Rose Belle Day Thornberry. He married Bernice L. Boston on may 10, 1947. He was a farmer and cowboy. After residing in Cherokee for 47 years, he and his wife moved to Enid in 1992 where he was living at the time of his death. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cherokee.

He is survived by his wife of Enid; a son Butch of Enid; a daughter, Linda Faro of Canton, Texas; three brothers, Al of Canon City, Colorado, Pat of Hesperia, California, and Joe of Great Falls, Montana; two sisters, Irene Harbour of Springfield, Oregon, and Opal Titus of Lowell, Oregon, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cherokee or to the Methodist Retirement Home of Enid through the funeral home.
