Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


Georgetown, Texas, formerly Cherokee-Viewing for Theda Talley will be Monday, December 3, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with family present at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Graveside service will be at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Jones officiating.

Theda was born on December 13, 1924 in Driftwood to Arthur Oblander and Helen Mason Oblander and passed from this life on November 29, 2012 in Georgetown, Texas. After Theda married Ellis Talley on July 31, 1943 in Cherokee, they moved to the home place near Driftwood, where they lived until 1997. Theda moved to Georgetown in 1999. Theda and Ellis loved to travel with their fifth wheel trailer with fishing their main pastime. They spent their winters in south Texas. She was a member of Cherokee Eastern Star, had been Worthy Matron and had received her 50 year pin. Theda was a member of Driftwood Christian Church.

Those who preceded her in death include her husband, Ellis; her parents, Arthur and Helen Oblander, brother, Vern Lloyd Oblander and granddaughter, Stephanie Talley.

She is survived by three children, Keith Talley and wife, Sherry of Frisco, Texas, Craig Talley and wife, Ann of Stillwater and Roberta Mason and husband, John of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kristen and Phillip Magee and their children, Sean and Collin, Melissa and Zane Hinten and daughter, Alice, Tyler Mason, Jennifer and Drew Mahaffey.

Memorials may be given to Cherokee Municipal Cemetery through the funeral home.
