Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


VIRGINIA W. RICHTER
The funeral for Virginia W. Richter, 85, of Cherokee, OK., will be 2 p.m. Monday, at Cherokee First Baptist Church. The Rev. Tom Cooksey will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee. Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m. today with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m., and Monday 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
She was born June 9, 1920, in Lambert,OK. to Jack and Katherine Jones Wakefield and died Tuesday March 2, 2006, at Share Hospital, Alva.
She graduated from Jet, OK. High School in 1938. She married Glenn H. Richter Dec. 1, 1938, at Pawnee, OK. They made their home in Lambert where they farmed and were custom harvesters. They retired and moved to Cherokee in 1974. He died July 27, 1984.
She was a member of Cherokee First Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge and Good Cheer Club.
Surviving are one son, Dr. Clifford Richter of Edmond, OK. and one grandson.
In addition to her husband, Glenn, she was preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Alfalfa County Historical Society.
