Z. Pauline Taylor Mitchell was born October 10, 1920, in Drumright, OK. She went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, in Wichita, KS. She married Arlan E. Mitchell on October 30, 1942, and they remained married for 57 years. Pauline and Arlan made their home in Stafford, KS, where they raised their three children, and in Cherokee, OK, where they retired in 1985.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Arlan, her parents, her brothers and sister.
She is survived by her two sons and a daughter: Allan E. Mitchell and wife, Neva, of McAlester, OK; Stephen D. Mitchell and wife, Pamela, of Wichita, KS; Karen K. Davis and husband, Gordon, of OKC. Surviving grandchildren include Brian and Alicia Mitchell, Cherokee; Stephanie and Quentin Pittman, Wichita; Amy Harrison, McAlester; Kari and Eric Hughes, Columbia, MO; Kelli and Ryan Williams, OKC; Kevin and Lori Davis, OKC; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Cherokee, OK, on Saturday, June 11, at 2pm. The viewing will be on Friday, June 10, from 10am to 7pm, with a family viewing from 5pm to 7pm at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. Cherokee, OK.

Cherokee – The funeral for Arlen Edwin Mitchell, 79, will be at 2 PM Saturday at Nazarene Church. The Rev. Chleo Brown will officiate. Goodwin Funeral Home will direct burial and graveside military rites in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery.
Viewing at the funeral home will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday, from 9 to 11 AM Saturday, and at the church before the service. The casket will remain closed after the funeral.
He was born July 17, 1920, in Green Valley, near Carmen to Clydus Edwin and Pearl Keffer Mitchell, and died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at his home in Cherokee.
He attended Green Valley country school, Red Bird country school near Dacoma, Carmen high school and graduated high school at Central Academy and College. He also attended Central College, McPherson, Kansas. He entered the military in September, 1942. On October 30, 1942, he married Zerra Pauline Taylor in Wichita Falls, Texas. During World War II he crewed a combat P – 51 airplane for 16 months in the European Theater of Operations, 8th Air Force, 504th Fighter Squadron, 339th Fighter Group at Station F378, Fowlmere, England. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star for meritorious service during the D – Day invasion.
They moved to Stafford, Kansas, and lived there 26 years while he was employed at Truck – Trailer Supply Company, Inc., and Crown Leasing. In 1968 he went to work for Farmland Industries. He retired in June 1984. In 1985, they moved to Cherokee.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline of the home; two sons, Alan E. Mitchell of Cherokee and Stephen D. Mitchell of Wichita; one daughter, Karen K. Davis of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mary C. Mitchell of McPherson, Kansas; six grandchildren; and two great – grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Memorials may be made to the Cherokee Nazarene Church through the funeral home.
