She was born March 27, 1928, in Crescent to Nathaniel and Anna Wilson Yenzer and went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2010.

She attended Crescent Schools and graduated in 1946, where she was active in glee club, Senior Football Queen and senior play. Then later attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma City.

She and the late Gene Michael were married Dec. 30, 1950, in the First Baptist Church of Crescent and moved to Cherokee in 1957. She worked in the music shop in Cherokee with her late friend, Alice Geis, was the Superintendent's secretary at Cherokee High School and worked for Dr. Gaylon Crawford as the insurance clerk until she retired.

She was baptized at an early age at the First Baptist Church of Crescent and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherokee, where she was very active and attended regularly until her health failed.

She was very active in her son's and grandchildren's church and school activities, always attending ball games whether grade school, high school, or college.

She was very happy that she lived long enough to be a great-grandmother, cherishing all the time that she got to spend with all her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.

She helped Gene in the garden and with his flowers and continued after Gene's passing away, until she was unable to keep it up. She loved feeding and watching the birds.

After Gene's passing, she was blessed with Lady the dog, who mysteriously showed up at the house and was her constant companion.

Surviving are two sons, Forrest and Kirsten Michael, and Paul and Belinds Michael of Cherokee; grandchildren, Eric and Kendra Michael of Oklahoma City, Stephen and Pamela Michael of Edmond, Kendra and Brandon Anthony of Aline, and Shelby Michael of Cherokee; great-granddaughter, Lydia Kay Michael of Oklahoma City and one brother, Phillip and Glenda Yenzer of Crescent.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one infant brother.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Cherokee with Rev. Tom Cooksey officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee. Visitation at the funeral home wil be noon till 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6:30 till 8 p.m.

The family will be at the Michael residence at 610 E. 7th Street.

Memorials may be given to the Cherokee Fire Department in her memory through Goodwin Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Gene Michael, 80, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, in the Cherokee First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Cooksey officiating. Burial will be in the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of the Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.
He was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Crescent to John Arthur and Mary Mabel Folger Michael and died Oct. 12, 2006, at his home in Cherokee.
He attended rural schools in Guthrie and graduated from Crescent High School where he was active in football and sports. After graduation he served in the Merchant Marines.
He and Betty Yenzer were married Dec. 30, 1950, in the First Baptist Church in Crescent, and moved to Cherokee in 1957. He worked for Davon Oil and then for Zenith, which later became Oklahoma Natural Gas, retiring in 1986 as local manager.
He was baptized at an early age in the First Baptist Church in Crescent and was a member of the Cherokee First Baptist Church and Men's Sunday School Class, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, United Fund Member, Scoutmaster, RA Leader at First Baptist Church and was on the Cherokee Fire Department for 21 years, retiring as fire chief.
He was very active in his sons' and grandchildren's church and school activities, always attending ball games whether grade school, high school or college.
He was an avid gardener and raised beautiful flowers.
Surviving are his wife Betty, of the home; two sons, Forrest and Kirsten Michael and Paul and Belinda Michael of Cherokee; grandchildren, Eric and Natalie Michael of Huntsville, TX, Stephen and Pamela Michael of Oklahoma City, Kendra Michael of Alva; Shelby Michael of Cherokee and a sister, Fern and Shelby Collinsworth of Palm Springs, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Memorials may be given in his memory to Alfalfa County EMS training fund through Goodwin Funeral Home. This fund benefits the ambulance, police department and fire department.
