Gladys Lorraine Beaty was born in Cherokee, OK on August 14, 1919 to Samuel L. and Ellie Barrick Beaty and passed away on May 28, 2006 after a lengthy illness.
She attended Oklahoma Baptist University and later worked for many years in an administrative capacity in the aircraft industry. In addition to her professional work, Gladys loved to go camping, water skiing and fishing. She also enjoyed stamp collecting, competing in card games and dominoes and working on needlepoint projects. Summers in Colorado were an especially meaningful part of life to Gladys and George. She made many friends through participation in her garden and bridge clubs and in the First Baptist Church of Midwest City. She loved her many friends and cherished the telephone calls, visits and cards she received throughout the years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, George T. Martin; sister, Hazel Hale; brother, Sam L. Beaty; step-son, George T. Martin, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Snow Martin; and infant grandson, Toby Martin.
Survivors include a son William David Strickler; grandson, Todd Martin and wife, Sherry and great grandsons, Cole and Chase. Also a sister-in-law, Kathryn Martin; cousin, Alma Doughty; nieces, Marsha Boyle, Linda Shanks, Nancy Reim, Jean Elaine Myers and Donna Axtell; nephew Bob Martin, several great nieces and nephews and her beloved schnauzer, Abbie.
She will be greatly missed by her family and her special friends and caregivers - Janet and Bob Mitchell, Barbara Cranmore, Karen McAdams, Verna Robinson, Ida May Johnson and Verlynn Madison.
