March 28, 1939 - December 10, 2023

Robert "Bob" Neil Meyer, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away on December 10, 2023 at his residence at the age of 84 years.

Bob was born on March 28, 1939, in Littleton, Colorado to Rudolph and Lula Mae (Welch) Meyer, both who died when he was six. There were six children at home - ages 1 through 12. His uncle Herbert and wife Lena took him and his younger brother, Bill, to Oklahoma. They attended Elementary School in Ingersoll and High School in Cherokee, where he met Bari Smith. At age 13, he went to live with Dewitt and Marilie Thomas.

He was an extremely hard worker. He worked from 13 years old, where he started at the Oklahoma Tire and Supply, until he retired at 65 from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. He was an electrician, farmer, teacher, and superintendent.

He was married to Bari Smith in 1962, they had many adventures and traveled a lot. He and Bari were married for 61 years, until his death.

Bob gave his life to Jesus and was baptized at an early age at the German Baptist Church in Ingersoll. His family was raised on the love and discipleship of Jesus and His church.

Bob and Bari have two daughters; Dana Syd and her husband Michael Bertino, and Bobbi Rene and her husband Joseph Tripp. Dana and Michael's children include Sydney Anderson and husband Christian; Tannin Bertino and wife Amanda; Ian Bertino and his fiance Doris McCamish; Anna Bertino at the University of Texas in Tyler, Texas. Bobbi and Joseph's children are Kent Nicholas Tripp at OSU, Stillwater; James Chisholm Tripp at OSU, Stillwater; and Rhett Joe Tripp of Blackwell. Great Grandchildren include Ransom and Giles Anderson, and Maria Bertino.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 19th at Crestview Baptist Church in Ponca City with burial at 2:00 p.m. in the Cherokee Cemetery in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Rev. Andy Jobe of Riverview Baptist Church in Bixby will officiate.

Casketbearers will be Tannin Bertino, Ian Bertino, Christian Anderson, Rhett Tripp, James Tripp and Kent Tripp. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Monty Smith, Jerry Easterly, Leon Lively and Laverna Wedman.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73112.
