Memorial service for Matt E. Lyons will be Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Lanman Chapel in Cherokee. Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery.

Matt was born on July 6, 1953 to Jack and Irene Rumsey Lyons in Hutchinson, Kansas and passed from this life on November 23, 2017 in Woodward. He married Suzy Wilson in 1981 and to this union four children were born. Matt started working in the oilfield in 1970 and retired in 2008. He enjoyed being on his ranch as well as hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Lyons and Irene Rumsey Lyons; one daughter, Jessie Lyons; one brother, Had Lyons; two sisters, Mary-Gaye Lyons and Sherry White.

He is survived by his wife, Suzy Lyons of Woodward; his three children, Jenny Judd and husband, Logan of Helena, Levi Lyons of Waynoka and Lindsey Lyons of Mooreland; grandchildren, Merric, Mavric, Mathew and Hudson Judd, Maysey, Mattison and Makenzie Lyons, and Arlo “Banjo” Lyons; one sister, Shonda Martin and husband, Scott of Clarendon, Texas; one brother, Luke Lyons of Cherokee; step-mother, Juanell Lyons of Ames; two step-sisters, Tammy Maness and husband, Steve and Taunya Trammel of Enid and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be given on behalf of the family to the funeral home.
