Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


ENID — Funeral services for Cherri Fallis-Lyons, 55, will be at 6 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Cherokee with the Rev. Ed Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of the Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee. At her request the casket will remain closed. A private family viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was born Feb. 11, 1957, in Wichita, Kan., to Buck and Jean Jones Fallis, and passed away March 7, 2012, at her home in Cherokee.

She attended school in Cherokee. She had numerous jobs, her favorite being at the El Paso, Texas, County Sheriff's Department, where she was a certified instructor at El Paso County Sheriff's Academy, teaching search and seizure, AIDS, penal code, report writing and gangs. She had also worked in food and retail management, CNA and CMA at Cherokee Manor, auditor at Hammer-Williams Co. and sales representative for Mattel Toys.

She was a member of the Cherokee Christian Church and later joined the Bethel Baptist Church.

She and Luke Lyons were married July 28, 1999, in Cherokee, where they made their home.

In addition to her husband, Luke, she is survived by her mother, Jean Norman, and her husband, C.L., of Cherokee; her son, Christopher "Bug" Penoyer and his wife, Eden, of Cherokee; three brothers, Randy Eckels of Austin, Texas, Mike Fallis of Alva and Steve Fallis and wife Sarah of Cherokee; four granddaughters, Julie Penoyer, Michelle Penoyer, Aaliyah Price and Lanie Price; four stepsons, Ken Penoyer, Steve Penoyer, Joshua Lyons and Justin Lyons; and two nephews, George Fallis and Aaron Fallis.
