EUNICE REBA MARTIN LAGROW
The funeral for Eunice Reba Martin LaGrow, 97, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Cherokee, OK. The Revs. Jim Edmison, Gail Edmison and Dianna Pruitt will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1908, on a farm near Aline, OK. to Nicholas Garrison Jr. and Cora Jane Partrick Martin and died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Cherokee Manor, Cherokee, OK.
She attended school in Aline and graduated from Aline High School in 1926. She attended Northwestern State College in Alva, OK. and obtained a life certificate. She then taught at Chicago School, southeast of Cherokee.
She married Francis Edgar LaGrow July 12, 1928. He died in 1981.
They lived and farmed southeast of Cherokee, moving into Cherokee in 1959, where she was a cook at Hayden’s Cafe and later managed the Ministerial Thrift Shop. She was a member of Cherokee United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She taught fifth-sixth grade Sunday school class at both Cherokee and Jet United Methodist Churches and held devotionals and Bible studies at Cherokee Manor.
Surviving are one son, Jerry LaGrow of Jet, OK.; one sister, Wilma Grace Girk of Ponca City; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Francis, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Cherokee United Methodist Church.
