Leah Hadwiger, 84, died September 22, 1989, in an Enid hospital. Funeral services were at 10 AM Wednesday in the First Christian Church with Pastor John Bloss officiating. Burial was in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery directed by Fisher Funeral Home.
She was born March 10, 1905, on a farm near Okeene. She moved to Ingersoll from Clovis, New Mexico, in 1920. She attended Ingersoll schools. She married Loyd Hadwiger October 6, 1926, in Ingersoll. They moved to Cherokee in 1933 where she lived until her death. Her husband died April 5, 1969.
She and her husband were instrumental in building Memorial Manor nursing home in 1964, where she assisted the residence for 11 years until her health forced her to stop.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Cherokee Study Club and Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Survivors are a son, Ronald of Cherokee; a daughter, Leta Wynn Walker of Amarillo, Texas; five brothers, Phillip Weigand, Harvey Weigand and Jacob Weigand, all of Cherokee, Edwin Weigand of Alt, Colorado, and Carl Weigand of Alva; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
The funeral for Samuel Christian “Chris” Haas Jr., 72, of Cherokee, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lanman Funeral Home Chapel, Cherokee. Don R. Hansen will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
