Cherokee Municipal Cemetery

Wanda Gray
August 28, 1937 - October 7, 2023

Wanda Gray, 86, of Jet, OK, went to Heaven on Saturday, October 7, 2023, to be with her husband, J.N. Gray; her son, Robert; her mother and father, Juanita and Bob Smith, and H.A. and Francis Morrow; sister, Sondra; and brother, Richard.

She is survived by her son, Terry Gray and wife Vicki; daughter, Penny (Nita) Kerley and husband Terry; her grandchildren, Heather Helberg, Amy Boone, Skylar Gray, Jennifer McGlaughlin, Tucker Gray and Kelsey Scott; along with 12 great-grandchildren and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was born Wanda Morrow in Vega, TX, on Aug. 28, 1937. She grew up in the Sonora and Menard, TX, area. In 1959 she met her soulmate and married J.N. Gray in Hobbs, NM, and they were married over 58 years. Wanda and J.N. moved to the Jet-Nash area in 1970 and raised their kids and owned their home in Jet until 2023. Over the years they chased after kids, grandkids and even their great-grandkids. Through their years they traveled all over the country to visit family and friends and even spent time in Europe. Wanda enjoyed pottery, ceramics and just working in her shop. Wanda was a retiree from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Most of her time was spent traveling to be with her family, as they were the most important thing in her life.

Per her request there will be a graveside service at the cemetery in Cherokee, OK, on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at 2 p.m. for all family and friends. Bring your stories and pictures. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations in the name of J.N. and Wanda Gray to the Jet Fire Department in Jet, OK.
