September 06, 1969 - October 28, 2017

Funeral service for Michael will be Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Cherokee with Rev. Garry McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. of Cherokee. Viewing will be Tuesday, October 31, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. www.LanmanMemorials.com and Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.

Michael Todd Flaming was born September 6, 1969, in Hobart, Oklahoma, beloved son to Royce and Wilda Flaming. The family moved to Cherokee when Michael was one year old. He graduated from Cherokee Schools in 1989, where he participated in Boy Scouts, 4-H and FFA. After graduation, he worked in the family business in Belle Plaine, Kansas, for several years. He then moved to Michigan where he worked for a convenience store chain for ten years. He returned to Cherokee to work for the family business in Oklahoma and Kansas. He later worked in the St. Louis area. Michael loved to hunt, fish, camp and boating. Michael was also a Boy Scout leader in Kansas. Michael also cherished time that he spent with family, especially his nieces and nephews. At the time of his death, Michael was attending NWOSU to become a licensed counselor.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother, Randy.

He leaves behind his parents, Royce and Wilda Flaming; sister, Barbara Flaming; sister, Brenda Salinas and husband, Peppy; sister-in-law, Teresa Flaming; two nieces; three nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials may be given to Oklahoma Heart Hospital Research Foundation (OHHRF), through the funeral home.
