Gary Dean Cochran was born November 2, 1950 to A.B. and Maxine Cochran of Cherokee, Oklahoma. Three minutes later his twin brother, Larry was born, to everyone's surprise. Big sister, Sandra, was overjoyed.
Gary learned to farm at a very young age. A.B. was in college earning his masters so it was up to the boys to help keep the farm running. In high school he was involved in FFA and played football. After his service in the Philippines ended, he worked in the shipyards in San Diego, California. When his service ended, he moved back to Cherokee and married Jill Schubert. They had three children together. Later in life he married Leslie Wilson and they had two boys. His work life in Cherokee was spent at Wilson Manufacturing and Crabtree Correctional Center. He also welded on the side. Gary was an avid fisherman.
