Gary Cochran
November 2, 1950 - July 9, 2023

Gary Dean Cochran was born November 2, 1950 to A.B. and Maxine Cochran of Cherokee, Oklahoma. Three minutes later his twin brother, Larry was born, to everyone's surprise. Big sister, Sandra, was overjoyed.

Gary learned to farm at a very young age. A.B. was in college earning his masters so it was up to the boys to help keep the farm running. In high school he was involved in FFA and played football. He was a very loyal friend to those who knew him. After high school he spent a short time at college and decided to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Philippines during the Vietnam war. After his service in the Philippines ended, he worked in the shipyards in San Diego, California. When his service ended, he moved back to Cherokee and married Jill Schubert. They had three children together. Later in life he married Leslie Wilson and they had two boys. His work life in Cherokee was spent at Wilson Manufacturing and Crabtree Correctional Center. He also welded on the side. Gary was an avid fisherman.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, A.B. and Maxine Cochran and grandson, Colton Wilson.

He is survived by sister, Sandra Smith and husband, Bill; brother, Larry Cochran and wife, Christy; daughters, Trina Reeves, Ashley Cochran, and Riley Cochran; sons, Anthony, Nicholas, and Dillon; grandchildren, Zakiah, Sean, Abigail, and Emma Reeves, Colby, Wilson, Adrian, and Ethan Cochran, and one great grandson, Noel Reeves.

Funeral service for Gary will be Friday, July 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Cherokee First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Viewing will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
