Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


The funeral for Sybil M. Boyer, 56, was at 10:30 AM Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Weathers officiating. Burial was in Cherokee Cemetery, directed by Fisher Funeral Home. She died January 20, 1995 at her home.

She was born April 3, 1938 in Cherokee to Roscoe W. And Maurine Tucker Shafer. She attended Cherokee public schools, graduating in 1956. She attended Oklahoma State University, majoring in sociology and psychology. She worked as a medical secretary. She was a lifelong resident of Cherokee except for 18 years when she lived in Enid. She married Oliver Boyer July 8, 1972. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital in the x-ray department as a medical stenographer. After moving back to Cherokee, she worked as a legal secretary until she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Bradley Scott Boyer of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; her parents of Cherokee; a brother, Ronald G. Shafer of Cherokee; a sister, Sue Marshall of Norman and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the church.
