Funeral services for Leona Dee Stonehocker will be at 10 a.m.,Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the Carmen Christian Church with Rev. Kirk Board officiating. Interment will be in the Carmen City Cemetery under the direction of Wentworth Mortuary, LLC.
Leona Dee Stonehocker, daughter of the late George Jackson and Iva Leona (Marks) Leatherman, was born June 7, 1945, at Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away August 19, 2017, at Fairview, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 12 days.
Dee graduated from Alva High School with the Class of 1963. She attended beauty school in Enid for a time. On September 18, 1971, she was united in marriage to Jacob Byron "J.B." Stonehocker at Alva. They lived in many places while her husband worked in the oilfield. She settled in Carmen in the mid '90s. Dee was very community minded and was a regular attender at the Carmen Chamber of Commerce meetings. She enjoyed helping with the annual Easter Egg Hunt and many other events. In her later years she supported the veterans with craft kits.
Besides her parents and her husband, J.B., she was preceded in death by two brothers, infant George Lee Leatherman and Lorace Leatherman, and one half sister, Arlene Smith.
Dee is survived by her son, Ryland Stonehocker and his wife, Jan, of Carmen; two grandsons, Elias Stonehocker and Kyle Stonehocker, both of Carmen; one great-granddaughter, Kamri Stonehocker of Canton; one brother, George Leatherman of Cherokee; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Carmen City Cemetery.
