Funeral service for Ronald “Ron” Keith Shepard will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Cherokee, Okla., with the Revs. Brandon Hollaway and Tom Cooksey officiating. Burial will be at Carmen City Cemetery, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. of Cherokee. Viewing will be 2-6 p.m. today, Dec. 21. Memories may be shared at www.lanmanmemorials.com.
Ron was born Nov. 22, 1940, in Parsons, Kan., the son of Keith David Shepard and Ardis Culbertson Shepard. He passed from this life on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, in Alva, Okla.
Ron and Linda Curry were married in Cherokee on Oct. 11, 1987.
He worked in the finance industry with several companies for over 40 years. He also worked part-time at Walmart in Alva for over three years, when he finally decided to completely retire and spend time with Linda.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1961.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Keith David and Ardis Marie Shepard, and his brother, Richard.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; sisters, Margie Hornback and husband Bob and Deloris Gilbert. Also surviving are his children, Richard Shepard and wife, Robin, Tonya Huntley and husband Tony, Jimmy Shepard and wife Kathy, and Rae Lynn McCullough and husband Mike; six grandchildren, Derek, Daniel and Dustin Shepard, Trinity and Isaiah Huntley and Celina Shepard; and one great-grandchild, Sutton Shepard.
Memorials may be made to Cherokee Lions Club through the funeral home.
