A graveside service for Clifford Morrison, 91, of Carmen, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Carmen Cemetery, with Ray Rose officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Clifford Lynn Morrison was born to Dick and Sylva Morrison on May 6, 1925, and passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Nov. 5, 2016.
Clifford served in the Army Air Corp in World War II and Korea. A goal of his military days was fulfilled when he acquired his pilot's license at age 60 and flew solo. Early in his career, he joined Toastmasters International to develop public speaking and leadership skills, which he applied throughout his 31 years of teaching anatomy and physiology. In later years, his specific interests grew into agricultural efforts. He was a longtime member of Garriott Road Church of Christ, and was thankful for the support of his church family.
Clifford is survived by his wife of 70 years, Abbie Morrison, and leaves a legacy with his children: Sandra, Shari, Lynn and Felicia; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Orpha Goss; and seven nieces and nephews.
Curiosity was the core of his broad intellect. He never lost his love of learning and sharing knowledge. His family will miss his strong leadership, his fun sense of humor, his thoughtful analysis of issues and his kindness to others.
Fitting with his beliefs, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the funeral home to a living tree memorial at Cleo State Bank, Carmen Branch.
