Alva – The funeral for Olive McLane, 87, who died Thursday at the home of her son – in – law, Ray Eggleston, 349 E. Hickory, Enid, will be at 2 PM Saturday at Alva Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Tom McNaney will officiate. Burial will follow in Carmen Cemetery directed by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
Olive Probus was born August 2, 1901, northwest of Dacoma. She attended OK and Elm Mott grade schools and Dacoma High School. She married Robert McLane March 12, 1921, in Carmen. He died April 13, 1956. They lived in Barnsdall, returning to Carmen in 1922, then moved to Forgan in 1926 later returning to Carmen where they operated a dairy farm. In 1933, they moved to a farm south of Alva and moved into town in 1954. She was a member of Alva Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday school classes.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy McCray of Carmen; one son, Eugene of Amarillo, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 21 great – grandchildren; and two great – great – grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter and one son.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Garfield County Hospice or Alva Wesleyan Church.
