Bertha Marie (Davis) Lahman was born Nov. 12, 1911, and went home to our Lord on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010. Bertha was born to Emmitt and Elma Davis in Concordia, Kan. She was the youngest of their four children. She traveled via horseback each morning to attend a small country school in northwest Oklahoma. As a child, she grew up on the family farm, playing with the baby pigs and a pet raccoon. She was baptized as a member of Carmen Christian Church. As a child, she grew up on the family farm, playing with the baby pigs and a pet raccoon. She was baptized as a member of Carmen Christian Church. Bertha married Charles E. “Bill” Lahman in 1931. They lived in Carmen, Okla. Together, they spent many summers doing custom combining, traveling as far north as Canada. In addition to combining, Bertha also worked at a local grocery store, café and Carmen Nursing Home.

She enjoyed going to community dances, spending time with family and friends and playing cards. Bertha would spend hours in the yard tending her flowers. She loved spending time outdoors, enjoying nature’s beauty. Her baking skills were amazing, with French toast and apple pie among her specialties. After Bill’s death, Bertha moved to Enid in 1979. She lived with her daughter, Dina Fothergill and son-in-law Mike Fothergill, and their family in Enid for a number of years. After Mike’s death, Bertha and her daughter moved to Yukon. Earlier this year, Bertha became a resident of St. Ann’s Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Dina Fothergill of Yukon, Okla.; granddaughters, Brenda Rose and Holly Clanahan; great-granddaughter, Latasha Prince; and great-great-grandson, Jaxon Prince. She also is survived by nieces, Jackie Branch and Barbara Dubbs; her dear friend Dixie Brooks; and a beloved pet Corgi, Stormy.
