The funeral for Margaret Grace Shirley Grewell, 82, of Fairview, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Cleo Springs Methodist Church, Cleo Springs. Burial will be in Carmen City Cemetery, Carmen. Tyron Wheeler will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc., Fairview. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born May 22, 1926, in Carmen to Marion Benjamin and Laura Belle Lee Shirley and died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Fairview Regional Medical Center, Fairview.
She graduated from Carmen High School in 1945, where she was active in band. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., Carmen, as an operator two years.
She married Marvin Frank Grewell Oct. 7, 1949, in Cherokee. They made their home in Cleo Springs, where he operated Cleo Hardware and Feed Store. He died July 6, 1990.
She worked at Cleo Cafe as a waitress and was a homemaker. She moved to Fairview Fellowship Home in March 2001.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Cleo Springs, and then Cherokee. She became worthy matron in 1960. She received her 50-year pin on Dec. 19, 2000. She was a member of Cleo Methodist Church, serving as Sunday school teacher and participating in United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Pullan of Fairview; one brother, Cecil Shirley of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; one sister, Ruth Murtha of Michigan; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Marvin, she was preceded in death by one infant son, three sisters, three brothers and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Cleo Springs Methodist Church.
