Carmen – The funeral for James David (Jim) Allen age 68, will be Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at 2 PM in the Carmen Christian Church in Carmen, Oklahoma. Rev. Oren Atkinson of Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church of Enid, Oklahoma officiating. Burial will follow in Carmen City Cemetery, under direction of Wentworth Mortuary of Carmen.
Jim Allen was born August 30, 1929 in Stuart, Oklahoma. He was the son of John Daniel and Walsie Rebecca (Morgan) Allen, and died Friday, April 17, 1998, at his home in Carmen. Jim was known to all his friends as J. D.
Jim enlisted in the United States Army in the 85th Infantry and was a private E–2. He was stationed at Fort Riley Kansas and was honorably discharged in 1952. After his military duty J. D. went to work on pipelines in the oil fields at Pampa and Borger Texas.
He drove a truck for Jackson Rig Company and also worked for many other trucking companies. J. D. Also owned and operated several Shamrock Service Stations and later went into business for himself. He owned and operated nine semitrucks for four years, and hauled just about anything.
He is survived by his wife Mary of the home and 10 children: JoElla and Roy Walker of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Loretta and Melvin Johnson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Johnny and Tamara Morris of Edgemont, South Dakota; Cindy and Ken Keith of Enid, Oklahoma; Jodi Ryel of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Brenda Rogers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Bruce and Jamie Morris of Clayton, Oklahoma; Teresa and Mike Jones of Dyersburg, Tennessee; Shirley Neal of Enid, Oklahoma; Jane and Bruce Ingraham of Enid, Oklahoma. 34 grandchildren and 10 great – grandchildren. 11 half brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.
