Betty Marie (Morrow) WEBER

Carmen Cemetery

Funeral services for Betty Weber will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Saint Cornelius Catholic Church in Cherokee, Oklahoma, with Father Cory Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in the Carmen City Cemetery under the direction of Wentworth Mortuary LLC of Carmen.

Betty Marie Morrow, daughter of the late Richard Vincent and Gladys Marie (Faulkenburg) Morrow, was born on March 22, 1930, at her grandparents, Joseph Devon and Eliza Ellen (Andrew) Faulkenburg's home in the southeast bedroom, 2 miles west of Carmen, Oklahoma, on the north side of the road. She passed away on August 30, 2023 in Oklahoma City.

She grew up in the country three miles west and a mile south of Carmen on the west side of the road. Betty was an only child. She was her mother's child and did everything with her mother. Her playmates were her cats and dogs. She lived here for the first 19 years of her life and attended a one room schoolhouse for 8 years. She was the oldest child in the school and the teacher would have her help with the younger students by reading and listening to them read to her.

Her education was so good during those eight years that when she went to Carmen High School, she "skated through" and was valedictorian her senior year in 1948. She had also caught the eye of a certain young man, Jack Weber. In the fall of 1947, after serving fifteen months in the Army, Jack returned home. After a football game, Jack asked Betty if he could take her home and the two started dating. After Betty graduated high school, she was ready to marry Jack, however, Jack said he was not ready at that time.

Betty took the opportunity to attend Oklahoma A & M, meeting many new people, and especially enjoyed learning about literature, home economics and taking physical education. She really loved playing tennis and golf. Betty went home for the summer and found that Jack was now ready to get married. They were married August 10, 1949. They lived with Jack's parents north of Carmen from August 1949 until January 1950 when they moved into a new house across the road from August and Nettie Weber. Soon they were blessed with three sons, Gary, Ted, and Paul.

Betty lived all of her life in Carmen until October of 2022 when she moved to Mustang, Oklahoma, to be closer to family.

Betty was the perfect picture of a farm wife. She would help Jack any way she could. She had a big garden, chickens, pigs, and milk cows. She would can green beans by the bushel! She was an amazing cook. She would prepare meals (aka processing the chickens and having them fried up and ready for dinner) and take them to the men while they worked in the field or have dinner on the table when they were finished for the day. She always had meat, two kinds of vegetables, potatoes, bread, butter, and dessert, usually with ice cream!

Betty was involved in many things outside of the home as well. She was a member of many organizations, Saint Cornelius Catholic Church in Cherokee, WWW Club, Carmen Historical Organization, and Chamber of Commerce. Betty and Jack loved to play cards with childhood friends. Betty guided and directed her sons in 4-H, band, and other activities. She worked as a cook for the Carmen Home and served as the Carmen Postmaster for many years.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; and grandson, Joshua Weber.

Betty is survived by her son, Gary Weber of Carmen; granddaughter, Lauren Randall and husband, Alex, of Chandler, Arizona; grandson, Steven Weber and wife, Brittany, of Chandler, Arizona; great grandson, Cruz, and a little sister coming soon; son, Ted Weber and wife, Cheri, of Mustang; granddaughter, Rebecca Weber of Stillwater; granddaughter, Melissa Wilkerson and husband, Jim, of Piedmont; and great grandsons, Wyatt and Ty; granddaughter, Teresa Weber of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Mekayla Knox and husband, Blake, of Aline; and great grandsons, Jack and Jed; grandson Richard Weber and wife, Samantha Brownlee-Weber, of Germany; and grandson, Samuel Weber of Mustang; son, Paul Weber and wife, Susan, of Stillwater; granddaughter, Jennifer Dobson and husband, Matthew, of Amherst, Massachusetts; great grandchildren, Grace and Hannah; and granddaughter, Jamie Weber and Eric Wilmoth of Ferndale, Michigan; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the mortuary to Carmen First Responders or the Carmen After 55 Club.
