Jan Roger Jewell
February 27, 1955 - November 26, 2023
Jan Roger Jewell, age 68, entered the gates of paradise with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Jan was born February 27, 1955, in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Alby (Junior) and Betty (Winans) Jewell. He was their third child and only son. Jan graduated from Burlington High School and later from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He married his high school sweetheart Bobbie Highfill on May 12, 1973. This marriage was blessed with two precious sons, Justin Reid and Chace Tyler. Jan's life work was spent on the family farm raising primarily wheat, alfalfa, and cattle.
In his younger days, he loved hunting whitetail deer, mule deer, and elk. He also had a passion for trapping fur bearing animals. Through this time he became an avid gun collector, his favorites being Winchester Lever Action Rifles. Outside of work and hobbies, Jan was all about his family, especially when his grandkids arrived. If he wasn't working cattle, he was at a baseball game, watching some football, or cheering in the gym during basketball season. Jan came to know many, many people at all of these events, and he was known to everyone for being a kind, quiet, and humble man. He was a friend to all, but his deepest relationship was probably with his Lord and Savior, and he was a witness for Him to his very last day on this earth, telling anyone and everyone he came into contact with, "No matter what, it's a Win/Win situation. I either get to be here with my family or go to be with my Lord!"
Jan is preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Betty Jewell, and his son, Chace Tyler Jewell.
Jan is survived by his wife, Bobbie; his son, Justin Jewell and wife, Danielle; his three grandsons, Kutter, Gatlin, and Briggs; his granddaughter, Emerson; his sisters, Donna Ryel and husband, Ron, Jody Tucker and husband, Dave; nieces, Tandi Hoelker and husband, Jim, Kelli Cannon and husband, Charlie, Anissa McGuire and husband, Bret, Janna Averitt and husband, Keith, and many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and very dear friends.
