October 19, 1920 - March 3, 2020

Grace was born October 19, 1920 near Byron, Oklahoma to John Edgar Riley and Heneretta Theresa Puffingbarger Riley and passed from this life on March 3, 2020 in Wakita. She grew up on a farm east and south of Byron and graduated from Byron High School in 1938. In July 1939 Grace married Murel DeVore of the Vining Community and here they made their home and started a family. Three children were born to this union: Donna, Elaine, and Eddie. When Donna was thirteen, Murel started working for Cities Service Natural Gas, so they moved to Hesston, Kansas, and from there they moved many times. Grace was a great homemaker. Murel and Grace retired in 1983 and moved back to Cherokee to be with their family.

Those who preceded Grace in death include her husband, Murel DeVore; one son, Eddie DeVore; two brothers, Orie Riley and Harold Riley; four sisters, Martha King, Opal Case, Lenora Price, and Marcella Swiggett, and her parents, Ed and Retta Riley.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Daub and husband, Sonny of Cherokee and Elaine Carroll and husband, Dennis of Newton, Kansas; 36 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Service for Grace will be Monday, March 9, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cherokee. Burial will follow in Byron-Amorita Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Visitation will be Sunday 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with family present.
