Byron – The funeral for Esther Irene Beach, 87, will be 10:30 AM Friday at Byron Christian Church. Dr. Gary Parkman and the Rev. Marion Beach will officiate. Burial will be in Byron – Amorita Cemetery. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee. The casket will be open at the funeral home from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday and at the church one hour before service Friday.
She was born September 15, 1912, in Byron to Thomas W. And Nettie Vesley Gray and died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Downey Regional Memorial Hospital, Downey, California.
The family were longtime residents of the Mendon area. On December 25, 1934, she married Virgil Edgar "Bud" Beach in Cherokee. They lived on a farm east of Byron. In 1951, they moved to Downey. She was employed as a salesclerk by Grant's Department Store, retiring in 1974.
Surviving are two sons, Ray of 29 Palms, California, and Marion of Sand Springs; three daughters, Shirley Hargis of Wichita Falls, Texas, Barbara Shepherd of Downey and Bonnie Geibe of Kingwood, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great – grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966 and five brothers.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church.
