ENID - The funeral for Vernelda Eileen Bahr, 82, of Cherokee, will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Lanman Funeral Home Chapel, Cher-okee. The Rev. Ed Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Byron Amorita Cemetery, Amorita. Visitation will follow the burial at Amorita Community building. View-ing will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Larned, Kan., to Carl Edward and Esther Emma Andree Sandstrom and died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Springview Manor, Conway Springs, Kan.
She was a 1945 graduate of Amorita High School.
She married Lester Marion Bahr Dec. 28, 1946. She was a homemaker. They moved to Corwin, Kan., in 1955. In 1988, she moved to Cherokee.
Surviving are three children, Diana Jo Dressen of Ponca City, Carl Bahr of Harper, Kan., and Frances Bruce of Cherokee; one sister, Charlotte Dowell of Hennessey; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, one son, one brother and one grandson.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita, or The Gettin' Place Ministries, Cherokee.

Hazelton, Kansas – Services for Lester Bahr, 64, who died Thursday in a Wichita, Kansas, hospital, will be at 2 PM Sunday at Williams Funeral Home, Anthony, Kansas, with burial in Byron – Amorita Cemetery.
Bahr was born February 19, 1923, at Gridley, Kansas. He was a farmer and an Attice engineering employee. He and Eileen Sandstorm were married at Mayfield, Kansas, December 28, 1946.
In addition to his wife, Eileen, Bahr is survived by two sons, Carl of Corona, California, and Elmer of Oakland, California; two daughters, Diana Skaggs of Ponca City, and Frances Bruce of Harper, Kansas; three brothers, five sisters and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the ABBD Senior Center in Amorita, either directly or through the funeral home.
