Byron & Amorita Cemetery


Gaylord Keith Allen 38695934, Pfc. USA, son of Mrs. Ruth E. Allen, Byron, Oklahoma, was born December 16, 1926, at Byron and attended high school there. He was inducted into the service at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, in April, 1944, receiving his military training at Camp Robinson, Arkansas and Camp Campbell, Kentucky. Private Allen served six months overseas in the European Theater, taking part in the battles of Munich and LaHauf. He served with the 20th Armored Division, 65th A. I. Bn. Company B, part of the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 9th, and 15th Armies, and then was stationed at Camp Hood, Texas.

Decorations: ETO Campaign Medal, ATO Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Army of Occupation Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge.
