The funeral for Inis Fay McMurtrey, 93, of Cherokee will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Cherokee. The Revs. Tom Cooksey and Mark Walters will officiate. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee. Visitation will be at the funeral home 12 to 7 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m.
She was born April 12, 1912, near Hardtner, Kan., to Charlie and Stella Ingle and died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at Share Convalescent Home, Alva.
She graduated from Alva High School and Northwestern State College, Alva.
She married Wentz McMurtrey May 12, 1935, west of Lambert. They lived in Cherokee for one year, then moved to a farm west of Cherokee in 1936. They moved back to Cherokee in 1959. He died in 1994. She moved to The Homestead, Alva in 2002, then to Share Convalescent Home in February 2005.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Cherokee, Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge and Mother's Self Culture Club.
Surviving are one son, Ronal McMurtrey of Cherokee; two daughters, Marlyn Keiffer of Richardson, Texas, and Juleeta Koehn of Durant; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Besides her husband, Wentz, she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Auburn Cemetery.
