A graveside service for James Earl McDonald, Jr., 88, is 1 p.m. Sunday August 21, 2016, in Auburn Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Chapel is officiating.

He was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Rouse, Colo., to James Earl McDonald and Dedie (Young) McDonald, and passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 2 days, at Shares Nursing Home, Alva.

Jim attended elementary school and high school, graduating with the class of 1945 from Cherokee. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy.

August 1948, he married Rosalie May Sacket and they had two children, Jack Wayne and Judy Faye.

He was married to Iva Lou Harth for 30 years, and had a step-son, Patrick O'Leary, who preceded him in death.

He worked for the City of Alva for many years, until retiring in 1992.

Jim and Jeanie Johnson were married April 16, 1990, in Cheyenne Valley Methodist Church. They were married twenty six years.

J.E. was preceded in death by his father, mother and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanie, of the home; his son, Jack McDonald of Tulsa; and his daughter, Judy Faye Denlinger of Wichita, Kan.; as well as two step-daughters, seven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
