Kirk Paul Goodwin
Graveside services for Kirk Paul Goodwin, 75, of Lambert, will be 1:00 PM Sunday, December 6, 2009, at the Auburn Cemetery, with the Rev. Mary C. Irby officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Cherokee. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Cherokee.
Kirk Paul Goodwin was born on March 10, 1934, in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Glenn & Joe Burns Goodwin. He departed from this life at his home on Thursday, December 3, 2009.
He attended Lambert High School, graduating in 1952. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Belcher at the Yewed Methodist Church on June 5, 1953. To this union was born three children Klay, Kyle, and Kirsten. In 1955 they moved to a farm near Udall, KS, returning to the Lambert Community in 1970, where they farmed until the time of his death. He was a member of the Prairie Valley Methodist Church.
He will be missed by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; his children, Klay Goodwin and his wife, Debbie, of Cherokee; Kyle Goodwin and his wife, Shannon, of Oklahoma City, and Kirsten Thompson and her husband, Steve, of Fairview; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, Korwin Goodwin and his wife, Doris, of Decator, TX; one sister, Kay Leslie, of Chouteau, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorials can be made in Kirk's name to the Auburn Cemetery or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Division, with the Goodwin Funeral Home, 106 W. 2nd St., Cherokee, Oklahoma 73728, serving as custodian of the funds.
