He graduated from Burlington High School in 1968. Following high school graduation, he attended Northern Oklahoma College then later pursued an associate degree at Wichita State University. He married Debra Frech on September 20, 1975. He worked as a service manager for Holderby Ford Garage. He later started his trucking career driving cross country for various companies and that allowed him to visit most of the lower 48 states, which earned him the 2 million mile safety award for Texaco. Toward the end of his trucking career he owned “Driftwood Carrier Corp” hauling crude oil. He was a great friend to many people, especially his graduating class. He would keep in touch through late night phone calls, letters and postcards that always ended “got to keep on trucking”.
