The funeral for George Marvin Diel, 90, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at the Apostolic Christian Church, Kiowa, Kan. Ron Allenbach and Jeff Bahr will officiate. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery , Burlington. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Burlington to Isaac and Marie Somerholder Diel and died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Kiowa Hospital District Manor.
He attended Burlington schools.
He married Matilda Raaf April 26, 1942. They made their home on a farm outside of Burlington where he farmed and raised cattle. He served on the Alfalfa County Fair Board for several years.
Surviving are his wife, Tillie; one son, Don Diel of Alva; two daughters, Catherine Rose of Mission, Texas, and Georgia Diel of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Jake Diel of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Vera Andrews of Newkirk and Luella Wenninger of Morton, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers, and two sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Kiowa Hospital District Manor.
