Passing of Newt. Thomas

Community Mourns the Untimely Death of Worthy Young Man

Isaac Newton Thomas, aged 28 years and 15 days, a young man in the prime of his life and universally admired, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Thomas last Monday night after lingering only a few days with brain fever.

The funeral service was held Wednesday under charge of the local I. O. O. F. Lodge here to which order he has been a faithful member, the M. E. Church pastor, Rev. Michael, delivering the funeral sermon. Interment was made in Aline Cemetery, followed by one of the largest processions of friends ever assembled to pay their respects to the dead.

Newt, as he was familiarly known, was a quiet unassuming young man who has resided on the farm south of town with his parents since the opening of the Strip to settlement.

He was born in Shelby County, Ohio on October 29, 1882. He removed with his parents from there to Kansas in 1892 of from there to his last home in Oklahoma near Aline.

Taken suddenly ill one week ago he grew gradually worse until the end. The deceased was unassuming but his character personality was greatly admired by those who knew him best and the community suffers greatly in his loss.

He leaves, besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Thomas, old time and respected people of this community, seven brothers and one sister to mourn their loss, namely, Mrs. H. T. Lindley, S. J. Thomas, J. Fred Thomas, William Lloyd Thomas, Jay Sidney Thomas, Cyrus Calvin Thomas and L. Clay Thomas of Aline and Emory E. Thomas of May, Oklahoma.

To the bereaved relatives and friends the Chronoscope as well as the community at large take this method of expressing their sincerest sympathies.
