September 13, 1939 - July 27, 2024

Funeral service for Robert Thompson will be Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Lanman Funeral Home Chapel in Helena with burial at Aline Star Cemetery in Aline. Robert was born on September 13, 1939 on the farm about a mile South of McWillie to Ross Thompson and Violet (Pekrul) Thompson. He went to school at McWillie in a one room schoolhouse before being closed and combined with the Goltry school where he graduated high school. He played baseball and was a member of the FFA.

Robert moved to Sublette, Kansas with his family in 1964 and worked at the Coop for about twenty years then moved back to the family farm South of McWillie in the late 80's and worked as a maintenance man for several different nursing homes in the area until he retired in his 70's. He married Rose in 1995 and they were married for twenty-one years until her passing in 2013.

He moved in with his son, Alan and wife, Joyce in December of 2023 in Chandler, Oklahoma. During the last three weeks of his life, he was moved to the Chandler Therapy and Living Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; parents, Ross Thompson and Violet (Pekrul) Thompson.

He is survived by two sons, Robbie Thompson and wife, Monica and Alan Thompson and wife, Joyce; three grandchildren, Joshua Thompson, Rebecca Thompson and Adam Thompson; one brother, Larry Thompson and wife, Kathy; one sister, Judy Bemis and husband, Lanny.

Memorials may be made to Goltry Alumni through the funeral home.
