August 25, 1939 - February 11, 2019

I, Jo Ann Stevens, was born August 25, 1939, west of Aline. I was the youngest of three girls born to George and Trecia Stevens. I was raised four miles west of Aline until graduating from Aline High School in 1957. I loved playing tennis and basketball. After graduating I was employed in Wichita, Kansas. After my employment at P.I.E. Truck Line, I married Jimmie Dean Stiles in April of 1958. From our marriage two children, Stephen and Shelley were born. We lived in California for two years while Jim served in the U.S. Air Force. After Jim was discharged in 1960 we returned to Cleo Springs. We then moved to Cherokee and later Alva. I worked in the lunchroom at Longfellow School in Alva. Jim then transferred to Helena in 1970. I worked several years in Helena at C & C Grocery for my very dear friend, Claudine DeLay until finding part time work at the U. S. Post Office in Helena. I then started full time employment in the Post Office, working nine years in Enid and twelve years serving as Post Master in Ames, where I met my dear and loving friend, Janice Bunch. I retired in 2006 and loved retirement! I've had a lot of fun with my precious friends, Coetta Schmidt and Connie Roberts. We loved going to Oklahoma City and shopping till we dropped. I am a member of Helena United Methodist Church.

I have two grandchildren, Blake and Chaynie McSparrin, who are the stars in my life. I've enjoyed shooting guns with Blake and looking at hunting equipment. Chaynie and I often shopped for home décor items, and she helped me decorate my home. Both Blake and Chaynie also helped me work in my flowers and around the house. I also leave my two children, Steve and Shelley.

My husband; my mother and father and two, sisters, Dixie and Donna preceded me in death.

Jo will be missed by all!

A celebration service for Jo will be Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Helena United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Aline Star Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. Viewing will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. www.lanmanmemorials.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.

Memorials may be given to Helena United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
