Aline Star Cemetery


Dona Darlene Spurgeon Thomas beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, friend, began her new life with the Lord October 24, 2004.

Ms. Spurgeon was born to Cecil and Marie Spurgeon August 23, 1942 on the family farm in Aline, OK. She moved to Wichita in her teens where she graduated from East High School in 1961. She was actively involved in the Goddard Lady Lions, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and faithful member of 1st Baptist Church of Goddard. She enjoyed helping others through her career path of nursing and various volunteer activities involving disabled children and those in need.

She is survived by her son Scott and his wife Jennifer of Sunnyvale, CA, and her daughters Sheryl, Suzanne, and Stephanie Thomas of Wichita, parents Cecil and Marie Spurgeon of Wichita, Brother Cecil Spurgeon Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, and much loved grandsons Kenneth and Christopher Bartlett of Goddard, KS.

Funeral services will be held Thursday October 28th, 3 pm Lanman Funeral Home Cherokee, OK with burial to follow at Aline Star Cemetery near Aline, Oklahoma. Then there will be a memorial service Friday 10 am at 1st Baptist Church Goddard, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rainbows United of Wichita, KS through the funeral home. Condolences may be made online at www.lanmanfuneralhomes.com. ;
